To whom it may concern:

      I am contacting you today to express my interest in the opening for a visual arts teacher.  At this moment I am currently employed by Williamston Community Schools where I teach over at their Middle School.  Through my time doing my undergraduate studies at Central Michigan University and my masters at Michigan State University I have gained an understanding for the high expectations of the students and those whom teach them in school districts such as yours. The position as Art Teacher would allow me to utilize my creative teaching skills such as:

 

- Keeping a safe and supportive classroom while allowing the students to learn to creatively solve

      problems and learn about different forms and styles of art;

- Treat each student as an individual and nurturing them on a one on one basis and in a group setting

      as a whole;

​

- Using relevant topics creatively to reinforce the importance of being involved and paying attention to

      the community around them;

​

- Using a variety of mediums and topics to give the students a creative outlet to express their interests and

      views;

​

- Teaching a curriculum that meets district and state goals;

​

- Advocating tolerance and understanding through multicultural lessons and activities;

​

- Adjusting instruction, the environment, or activities to accommodate a variety of learning styles;

​

- Not taking “I can’t do that” as an answer, believing that everyone has the potential to do anything

      that they put their mind to;

- Implementing a classroom management plan that is fair and includes the needs of every student;

​

- Helping the school achieve and surpass its improvement goals by collaborating with my fellow

      educators in order to create creative cross-curriculum lessons that incorporates other subjects to keep

      students intrigued and motivated towards continuous development;

​

- I am certified with a Central Michigan University Provisional Teaching Certificate, LQ Certification (K-

12), and am pursuing my Masters of Arts in Educational Technologies.

 

      As an Art Teacher for your school district, you will find that I am extremely self-motivated and involved in teaching and learning. I am a teacher who has no problem rolling up their sleeves and getting to work, whether that be in the classroom, grant writing, working on school improvement goals, spearheading after school activities, and being a member of the community.  I am very enthusiastic about living life and committed to the lives of young people.
