My name is Jonathan M. Gere, I am a teacher at Williamston Middle School where I teach Art and Technology.  I am currently part of multiple teams at my school that make strides towards integration of 21st century teaching ideals and using the various technologies out there in a effective and useful manner.  Being an Art Teacher is a dream come true because every day I get to come to school and create amazing projects with my students while helping then grow as individuals and learners.  One of my favorite lessons to teach is a Altered Book Project where the students save a book that was going to get thrown away and/or recycled and then turn it into a 3D art piece.  When I was in school my wonderful art teacher did a similar lesson and to this day I remember it as being one of the most memorable and impactful projects I created then.  For our books we include things such as: altering the cover, cutting into pages to create carved away windows/hidden sections, colleging, printmaking, creating a pop up, and making patterned page(s).  Along with normal teaching I also do many after school events and activities, one being WCS Figure Study class, which is open to any students anywhere (we have students from St. Johns come) .  Follow the links above to see more information on myself, my teaching and educational background (My Resume), my accomplishments (My Work), and my various qualities and traits I apply in an educational fashion (my Skills).

In my personal time I enjoy doing outdoor activities, such as camping, water sports, and participating in events such as charity runs (Superhero %k an Color Run) and Warrior Dash.  Along with that I also like working on creating my own art.  Recently I have been getting more into various 3D mediums, but my true passion is drawing. Before becoming a teacher I actually was going to school to become a illustrator/animator!  I am also a big Movie and comic book buff.
